Types and protection principles of motors operating in special environments

There are many types of motors operating in special environment. According to the operating environment conditions, the common ones are tropical, plateau, chemical, ship, automobile, coal mine, metallurgy and other motors. The principle of taking protective measures to ensure the safe operation of such motors is:

(1) For moisture, mold, solar radiation, salt spray, and industrial atmospheric corrosion prevention, the selection of suitable materials should be the main focus, supplemented by good metal surface protection and insulation treatment processes. When the above measures cannot meet the requirements, additional structural sealing measures can be considered.

(2) For measures to prevent solid foreign objects, rainwater, chemical corrosive gases, etc., the main focus should be on shell sealing protection, supplemented by necessary material selection and process treatment measures.

(3) For vibration prevention, the first step is to minimize the vibration source or adjust the natural frequency of the system to avoid resonance. If the requirements are not yet met, damping devices and isolation measures should be used.
